Crock Pot Chicken Cordon Bleu
This Crock Pot Chicken Cordon Bleu is family friendly and so delicious. You can easily put this together the night before or early in the day and let the crock pot do the rest. This crock pot take on the classic chicken cordon bleu, keeps all the flavor but makes it simple and fuss-free.
Start by making the sauce with these ingredients. Melt the butter, add the garlic, and slowly add in the flour. Next, the milk, cream, and chicken broth goes in. Stir constantly to prevent clumps from forming. Add in Djon mustard, fresh lemon juice, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.
Next is the layering. Start with 1/3 of the sauce on the bottom, then the chicken, next is the ham, and then the Swiss cheese. Top with the rest of the sauce.
The final layer is the topping. Mix melted butter, panko bread crumbs, and Parmesan cheese. Spread the topping evenly over the top layer of sauce.
It’s ready to cook. Cook on high for 3-4 hours and dinner is ready!

Layers of chicken, ham, Swiss cheese and creamy sauce are crowned with a buttery Parmesan crumb topping and slow cooked for an easy family-friendly meal. This Crock Pot Chicken Cordon Bleu brings all the comfort of the classic dish without pounding, filling, coating, and frying. Just add a salad or vegetable and you have a complete meal.
Ingredients
- 4 Tbs. butter
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 Tbs. flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 Tbs. Djon mustard
- 2 Tbs. freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 5 1/2 cups rotisserie chicken, shredded
- 1 1/2 to 2 cups ham, chopped (3/4 to 1 pound ham)
- 1/2 pound Swiss cheese slices
- 4 Tbs. melted butter
- 1 1/4 cups panko bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and cook on low for 1-2 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over the butter and garlic, a little at a time, stirring constantly, until a paste is formed. Cook for 1-2 minutes, until slightly browned.
- Slowly stir or whisk in the milk and heavy cream, stirring constantly to prevent clumps from forming.
- Slowly stir in the chicken broth, stirring constantly.
- Add Djon mustard, lemon juice, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Stir to combine.
- Turn heat to medium high and cook until sauce thickens. Cook for 1-2 minutes longer.
- Line crock pot with slow cooker liner.
- Pour 1/3 of the cream sauce into the bottom of the crock pot.
- Spread the chicken evenly over the cream sauce.
- Spread the ham evenly over the chicken.
- Layer the Swiss cheese slices over the ham.
- Pour the remaining sauce over the layers.
- Make the topping. Mix 4 Tbs. melted butter, 1 1/4 cups panko bread crumbs, and 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese together. Stir until the butter is evenly distributed with the crumbs.
- Finish by sprinkling the topping mixture evenly across the sauce.
- Cook on high for 3-4 hours.
- Serve hot.

- The sauce and topping and other ingredients can be prepped the night before so that all you have to do is layer then next day.
- You can use deli ham, leftover ham or whatever ham you choose.
